When I got a new laptop with a smaller screen I needed to increase the font size and discovered a wonderful extra that brings. By making the font bigger on Facebook I could remove the ticker from the righthand side - that's the list of what all of your 'Friends' are doing on Facebook right now. Real-time Activity Feed is its other name. Some like it but I find it too distracting. There are browser add-ons and extensions you can install but Facebook is bound to change its settings again soon so this simple method works best.
To increase the font size on any web page simple use ctrl and +. To decrease it's ctrl and -.

It's a nice thing to do to leave a comment when I friend shares big news but when you get a notification of every "Congrats!" that follows you suddenly wish you hadn't said anything. But there is a way to stop those notifications.
As ever, Facebook keeps changing where to find this. Sometimes you will actually see "unfollow post" under the post, next to the time it was published, and then you simply click there. I'm finding that less often these days so its good to know these tips too.
Hover your mouse near the top right of every post and you'll see a small downward arrow appear. It's not visible until you mouse over there. Click on the arrow and you can choose "Stop Notifications".
If that's not available, your next place to look is in your Notifications list on the top taskbar. Click on the world symbol and you'll see a list of the all the notifications sent your way. Find the post you want to unfollow and at the righthand side an X will appear when you hover your mouse in that area. Choose "Turn off" and the alerts of every following comment will stop. Phew.
We all make mistakes so if you publish something and then see a glaring mistake and want to remove a post this is what you do. Hover your mouse over the top right of the post and you'll see a pencil symbol. Click on that and you can either edit or delete the post. This tip also works for individual comments so if you write a comment on someone else's post and want to change it hover the mouse on the righthand side and the pencil symbol will appear.
If the pencil symbol isn't there still hover on the top right area and you should get the downward arrow so you can click on delete there.
There are a couple of ways to view photos in a larger size. If you are perusing your favourite pop band's Page and click on a photo this is how it first appears:
Every post has it's own unique url so if you want to share it was someone who isn't on Facebook, or make a note to be able to find it again in the future, here's where to look.
Under the name of the Page or person who posted you can see the date in grey. Click on that and the post will get bigger and the url will change to the unique link for that post.
How to Block Game Invites
We all use Facebook for different reasons and many love the games but I'm not one of them. I never want to be invited to play Candy Crush or any other game from my spamming Friends who invite everyone they know. But, thankfully, it's easy to stop those requests.
When a request arrives, go to your notifications list (click on the world symbol in the top taskbar) and click on the X at the righthand side of the request/s. You'll get a message saying "Turn off notifications for [annoying game]?" and, of course, you should click on "Turn Off".
